Visit the Aloha State By Cruise Ship

Hawaii is the perfect holiday destination with its infamous white sand beaches, local hospitality and spectacular surf and stunning natural vistas. Although the state is made up of over 100 separate small islands, the state's eight main islands are popular with holidaymakers with many people struggling over which one they should book for their annual holiday. However, the decision shouldn't be this difficult, instead opt to take a cruise ship around all of the islands and discover the highlights of all of them.

Honolulu
Honolulu is the port in which many cruise ships depart from as they explore the other islands - so why not spend a few days here before your cruise begins. While in Honolulu make sure you visit Pearl Harbour, the site of the infamous Japanese invasion in 1941 and now home to the Arizona Memorial and visitor centre. Once you've paid your respects, you can visit the USS Missouri, a battleship where the armistice ending was finally signed. While Pearl Harbour is one of the more harrowing attractions, holidaymakers can also take time out and one of Honolulu's beaches - Waikiki is considered by many people to be the best beach in the world.

Kahului
Sightseeing tours are perhaps the most popular past-time around Maui and when you view the dormant volcanoes, lush jungles and perfect beaches that the island has to offer -you'll see why. Excursions can even be booked while still on your cruise ship, which means that you have plenty of time while on land to make the most of the natural landscapes - although most of Maui's highlights are viewed from above. Take a helicopter tour and view the island's dormant volcanoes and wild surf, returning home with memories of the island to cherish forever.

Kona
Most cruise packages end in the town of Kona where you can spent the day relaxing before sailing back to Honolulu. Many of Kona's attractions are situated on the water and passengers will find that the area is ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving excursions - you can even arrange special snuba diving excursions, which are ideal for younger children that want to experience the island's fantastic marine life. Other attractions in the area include parasailing, deep-sea fishing and a Polynesian dinner cruise around the main bay.

Hilo
Hilo was a place in which law breakers could come and make an offering to their gods in order to have their sins absolved. Nowadays the island is one of astounding beauty and known for its attractions that include the tropical, botanical gardens with their cascading waterfalls and the boiling pots at Pe'epe'e falls - the result of lava tubes in the area. At the Kaumana Caves you can walk through much larger lava tubes - although you'll need to bring a torch if you plan on hiking far from the entrance.
